Have you noticed how much this doll resembles Miss new york contestant, Carrie Prejean, in the 2009 Miss USA beauty Pageant? The resemnlance is astonishing. It could be a Carrie Prejean Doll.

The doll itself is beautiful. I collect Barbies. The only issue I had with Amazon, is that the box itself is damaged. This doll won’t be taken out of the box. But the lower right corner of the display box was crushed in. Didn’t hurt the doll, but the box itself doesn’t look cool.

I bought this Barbie for my grown daughter who collects Barbies. he is particular about the boxes as he never removes the doll from them, but only displays them and the box and doll arrived in perfect condition.

As always, Robert Best did a superb job of designing the 50th anniversary doll. he is absolutely stunning in every way. For the collector, he is this years’ addition! Her golden dress hair and jewelry are perfect for this the golden anniversary of six of the world’s best loved dolls!

This doll sold out speedy and Amazon was the only place that I could obtain,
also at a reasonable price. It was delivered in perfect condition, including the plastic display box, which most other places won’t guarantee. I continue to shop at Amazon as it’s been a pleasant experience each and every time.

I learned so much from reading Ms. Gerber’s book. The best part for me was the history lesson. When you put Barbie & her development in the context of the times you gain a much greater appreciation for the accomplishments of her creator. a lovely read. an education.

A cautionary tale that still manages to offer an inspiring & empowering precedent for women in power, BARBIE & RUTH is a must-read. An early woman executive who dared to enter & master a man’s milieu, finally committing grave moral errors, but ultimately emerging wiser & of greater service to the world than she could have ever imagined, Ruth Handler, as Robin Gerber intelligently & entertainingly portrays her, is a relatable shero. Her human foibles, her dramatic struggles, her drive to succeed, & her require to redeem herself by giving back, set a powerful example for strong, smart women who may have made mistakes, but require to turn their lives around. Barbie & Ruth is a love story, success story, & business scandal story all wrapped into two - & it is all TRUE. The story of how a woman came to create the doll that represents the best & the worst of femininity is fascinating & Gerber’s account is not only well told but very balanced.

somebody interested in developing their own business from the ground up can learn something by reading Robin Gerber’s book about Ruth Handler’s experience. This well written story describes the challenges & triumphs over the years that the Mattel company introduced the Barbie doll & so plenty of other popular toys. it is up to the reader to make a judgement (or not) regarding the personal & business decisions made by Ruth as she rose to the top, & later hit bottom. Whatever you think about the Barbie doll & her creator, you will gain a new appreciation for what it takes to succeed in a very competitive environment, whether it be the retail business or any other business. I think you will find it worth the time to read this book.

Barbie & Ruth is truly wonderful! I’m recommending it to all of my friends- a quantity of whom joined me in my rec room to play Barbie dolls when they were young!
Ms. Gerber keeps the story moving & always interesting.

This Barbie is purchashed for collector purposes only. My g-dtrs love them. I have 3 g-dtrs ages 9-3, I started getting the holiday barbie the year we were born & every year after.They love how different we are from year to year, how we make their room look. As long as the girls are interested I will purchase the holiday barbie.

I know you think i am a little young for this book but trust me it’s great! It’s so lovely! I never looked at a Barbie the same way again! This is a must-have for Barbie fans! i am liking how she talked about how Barbie made African-Americans & American-Asians feel undermined what with not a lot of ethnic Barbies being sold now. I loved loved hearing about the collector things & the odd people who think Barbie is the most fabulous thing ever. She also covers feminism, society’s messages towards women, anorexic stars, & rituals that seem to be incorporated into Barbie play. & she gives some tidy background dirt on Mattel. He, he!
I did not like how she said the pregnant Midge doll was “icky”. This book is nice with plenty of photos & stories of interesting people & disturbing artists as well as the acessories made to make up for Ken’s groin loss (lol) & the secret messages implanted in Barbie’s accessories. I will never see Barbie as a cheap piece of skinny plastic anymore. Now, she is society in doll form. Believe it!

Though I read the book because I was interested in the subject matter & was doing research for a writing project of my own, what struck me here was the talent of the writer. M.G. Lord is a rare combination for a writer. she’s both the mechanics & the heart down-pat: She can construct a sentence or turn a phrase like nobody’s business, & she digs into & presents the most relevant content with nice judgment. The broad array of cultural references at the tip of her consciousness alone is impressive. I enjoyed the book, & even laughed often at the edgy humor.

This book isn’t the next _war & peace_ nor was meant to be. Just like that dude J. Alfred Prufrock, it’s nice for swelling a crowd, & giving you something less-embarassing than watch tv to do when you require to just relax. Analyzing pop culture, learning obscure facts about something i am vaguely ashamed of myself for being interested in in the first place . . . mmmmmm, pass the oreo ice cream, . The author definitely shares my sheepish fascination with Barbie. His/her(?) text explores plenty of aspects of our relationship with Barbie - as children, parents, adult women, queers, artists, etc., & a lot of interesting background info on how she was created, the company who has promoted her over the years, & the toy industry in general. Holding my interest *without* getting so serious that I wished the book had come with a discussion section that met two times a week, _Forever Barbie_ was like a long, interesting cultural-analysis chat with an amusing girlfriend. I would read it again in a few years or recommend it to friends . . .

I’ll admit, when I purchased the four currently available My Favorite Barbie dolls, I was least excited about 1971 Malibu Barbie. Mattel created a repro of Malibu Barbie only a few years ago, and I didn’t see the need to do another. Plus, I’m just not that into the Malibu dolls. I was looking forward to seeing the fashion, but that was the extent of my enthusiasm.

Then I received the dolls and de-boxed them, and discovered that the most faithful reproduction was actually this doll. Malibu Barbie doll features a new, more accurate body sculpt, and the face paint and hair texture are almost perfect matches to the original. FAR superior to the previous repro. The Lemon Kick fashion is also lovely, and it’s a vintage fashion I’ve always admired. If you don’t get any of the other dolls, get this one. Five stars.
